GRAPHENE - THE FUTURE OF EVERYTHING

GRAPHENE - THE FUTURE OF EVERYTHING

For those of you who don’t know, we’re talking about the recent Manchurian discovery of the new material Graphene, which holds the potential to change the future of the technology, energy, and medicine industries of the world. #NiceOneManchestaaaaaar

Graphene is the highly condensed, 2 Dimensional layer of carbon atoms (roughly the same thickness as a sheet of paper), that’s stronger than diamond and that can conduct electricity better than copper! Yeah, that’s right. Stop what you’re doing and listen up technogeeks!

With it being said that plastic only needs 2% of Grapahene to be conductive of electricity, it is a very real potential replacement for silicon in electronics, and is more than likely the introduction to a whole new form of technology all together.

Great Britain’s Manchester University (School of Chemistry) discovered this new kryptonite in 2004, however it’s the Chinese who have already managed to patent 2,204 publications – whilst the UK still only have 54… Shocker!

A classic case of ‘ON YOUR MARKS, GET SET… Oh bollocks, China won it again’. Someone give that country a Kit-Kat already!

So it’s not such great news for the UK, as the potential profit we could have made from Graphene was pretty humongous. But on the bright side, the exciting technology race is still very much on! With a highly conductive honeycomb structure and rubber like flexibility, the big brands (cough Samsung and Apple cough) are currently bustin’ ass to combine the latest phones, tablets, watches and any other modern day gadgets you can think of into ONE, BIG, MEGA….. THING!

As far as we know, Samsung have taken the lead but we’re sure Apple will be cracking the whip to overtake right at the last minute. The cheeky geeks. All we can say is watch this space people, because soon, this space will most probably be Graphene.
